Website SEO

I may not be young anymore, but I consider myself a computer nerd, and understand the importance of website SEO. Since switching from an antiquated web platform to this up to date one, I’ve been exploring the SEO possibilities using the very popular Yoast plugin. This was not a possibility on the old site since WordPress was not an option. An optimizer is unnecessary for me to know my number one need is more content. In writing this post, I am working on that. From my limited experience with it, Yoast seems to be an ingenious and useful plugin. It gives you excellent suggestions regarding your title, metadata, and keywords, just to name a few.

As my site grows, I may upgrade to the paid version which gives internal linking suggestions and helping deal with deleted pages and posts. These can send a visitor to a dreaded ‘page not found’ message. I want this site to be top notch, especially when the time comes to finally publish my book.

My Website SEO Change For The Better

As I mentioned, I had a site and my domain on Webs.com. I maintain another site on Hostgator which has had no problems, but tried Bluehost for my personal website. It has been a good decision, and I am locked in with a plus account for three years at the introductory price. I was able to start building the new site while waiting for my domain transfer to complete. I’m a little upset that Webs took over a week to make the transfer, even though I allowed it immediately. Most transfers I’ve dealt with have taken 12-36 hours. But in the end, I’m very happy with Bluehost and WordPress.

So whether you have a new site like me, or have a matured site, try out the Yoast plugin if you haven’t already. Even with the free version, you can tweak your site settings that will help you get ranked better on Google and others.
